Northern Beaches - Pittwater

Theory and practical venue:
Royal Motor Yacht Club
Prince Alfred Parade, Newport.

The Pittwater centre is operated at The Royal Motor Yacht in Newport, at the southern end of the beautiful Pittwater, right in amongst The Ku-ringai National Park.

As with North Sydney, the day starts at 9.00am in the Horseshoe Bay room inside the club, where we'll do the two theory sessions in the classroom and the boat licence test. Morning tea is provided in between.

Lunch can be purchased from the club bistro, which provides a sumptuous Lunch and students can enjoy the magnificent club facilities during the day.

After lunch, meet the instructor at the boat, which will be in the Marina directly in front of the club, and depart on the practical session .

We are particularly lucky in the location of this Venue and marina setting as 100 yards from our marina is the perfect area to learn how to be safe on the water. Students can see firsthand every type of navigational marker and hazard. The channels are well lit for night navigation classes and there is plenty of activity for us to practice real life situations.

Plenty of free car parking is available at the top of the yacht club. Meet the instructor at the club's main entrance at 8.45am to start the course at 9.00am.

Western Suburbs - Windsor

Theory venue:
Windsor RSL Club,
Argyle St, Windsor.
www.windsorrsl.com.au

Practical departs from:
Governor Phillip Park,
George St, Windsor.

The Hawkesbury River location is highly suited to water-ski enthusiasts for its totally calm waters. Navigational markers and dangers are few as the waterway is narrow and suited to fisherman not wanting the hustle and bustle of the larger waterways.

The day starts at 8.30am at Windsor RSL, where we'll do the two theory sessions in the classroom and the boat licence test. Morning tea is provided in between.

The club has a bistro for a great lunch before the practical session.

After lunch, meet the instructor at the boat ramp at Governor Phillip Park. There is a small jetty to the right hand side of the ramp, a short 100m walk down the track through the bushes and you will find it easily.

Parking at both the club and the boat ramp is free and in great supply.

Sydney South - Cronulla, Taren Point, Georges River, Port Hacking

Theory venue:
Taren Point Bowling Club,
Holt Rd, Taren Point.
www.tpbc.com.au

Practical departs from:
Hawkesbury Park Boat Ramp,
Hawkesbury Esplanade, Taren Point.

The day starts at 9.00am at the club, where we'll do the two theory sessions in the classroom and the boat licence test. Morning tea is available within the club.

Once the theory is over, well priced and generous lunches are available from the club bistro. Then head to Hawkesbury Park to Launch the boat and set out on the practical session.

Just like Middle Harbour, this location feels as though you're miles from the hustle and bustle of Sydney Harbour. No need to worry about ferries and container ships here because there aren't any.

You can join the trainer to observe the launch and/or retrieval of the training vessel, see how it's done and maybe pick up a few tips.

Parking at both venues is plentiful and the scenery along the Georges River wonderful. Meet the instructor at the club's main entrance at 9.45am to start the course at 10.00am.

North Shore - Sydney Harbour, Mosman

Theory venue:
North Sydney Leagues Club,
12 Abbott St Cammeray, NSW 2062
P: (02) 9245 3000
www.norths.com.au

Practical departs from:
Tunks Park,
Brothers Avenue Northbridge, NSW

The day starts at 9.00am at the club, where we'll do the two theory sessions in the classroom and the boat licence test. Morning tea is provided in between.

Once the theory is over, well priced and generous lunches are available from the club bistro as well as the local cafés. Then head down to Tunks Park to Launch the boat and set out on the practical session.

This location is so quiet it is hard to believe you are so close to the hustle and bustle of Sydney Harbour. No need to worry about ferries and container ships here because there aren't any.

You can join the trainer to observe the launch and/or retrieval of the training vessel, see how it's done and maybe pick up a few tips.

Parking at both venues is plentiful and the scenery on Middle Harbour is spectacular. Meet the instructor at the club's main entrance at 8.45am to start the course at 9.00am.

South West Area - Liverpool - Campbelltown

Theory venue:
Cabravale Leisure Centre,
30 Broomfield St, Cabramatta, NSW 2166
P: (02) 9723 4412
www.fairfieldcityleisurecentres.com.au/cabravale

Practical departs from:
Chipping Norton Lakes, at the Wharf near the boat ramp on Silverwater Crescent, between Eastbank Avenue and The Knoll, Lansvale

An early start (8.00am) gets the theory sessions underway here. Plenty of parking is available onsite and the venue is handy to many forms of public transport.

Lunches at the centre are fantastic value and taste terrific. Then it's down to the lake to launch the boat for the practical session.

Less than 5 minutes away from the Leisure centre on the northern shores of Chipping Norton Lake. This waterway is always busy and has an almost never ending collection of navigational features for students to deal with. The view from the water presents a beautiful perspective on the area that you may never have seen.

Ryde Area

Theory venue:
Ryde-Parramatta Golf Club,
1156 Victoria Road, West Ryde NSW 2114
P: (02) 9874 1204
www.rydeparramatta.com.au

Practical departs from:
Ermington Boat Ramp
161 Wharf Road, Melrose Park NSW 2114

The day commences in the club at 8.30am. We complete the boat theory in two sessions with a break in between, and then the theory assessment. PWC is next for the Jet ski licence if enrolled, or you can visit the club bistro for lunch before meeting at the water for the practical session on the boat. Parking is available at the club. Tea and coffee is provided at the break.

No more than five minutes down the same street as the club, you'll find the practical departure point. The waterways here are always busy and present plenty of opportunities to put into place knowledge gained in the classroom. All types of navigation marks are to be found, as well as some fantastic perspectives of this part of Sydney from the water.
