ABOUT MACKAY
Ray is an experienced skipper with a Master IV Certificate. He has worked in the Maritime Industry for many years, gaining a wealth of experience in all sizes of boats from 2 metres up to 20 metres, on waters from glassy calm to 4 metre, cyclonic seas. In his commercial activities his areas of operation were from Brisbane, to the tropical waters of Mackay and then north to the Whitsundays.
Under the new Boatsafe initiative he combines this experience with the ABC training package to assist new; and also experienced boaties to become safer mariners, and so enjoy their fishing and boating time on the water.

Once you obtain your licence & more experience, you will undoubtedly venture off-shore. If so, you will be a much safer mariner if you are a member of the Volunteer Marine Rescue.
If you complete an in-class, boat licence course with ABC Mackay, you will receive your first 12 months membership to Mackay Volunteer Marine Rescue, free. This will save you over $50. |

The theory session of the one-day boat courses are held in the fully air-conditioned, VMR Headquarters at the picturesque Mackay Marina, with the boatwork assessments held either at the Harbour or in the Pioneer River.
Businesses requiring their staff to have a boat licence course provided by a registered training organisation, are catered for with our weekday courses.
Ray also caters for workers from the mining towns and offshore islands.
Due to their work rosters, their geographic location, family commitments etc, a Flexible Learning Kit is available, allowing them to home study the boat course material and only come to Mackay to have the paperwork checked and do their practical boatwork assessment. Depending on numbers, this only takes about an hour of their time while in town.
Courses can be arranged at the mining towns if numbers permit.
